Old Sa roared, and his body flashed. He jumped to under Kong Shang Xin’s feet and gathered all of his body’s martial energy to his two palms. Suddenly, he aimed straight up and pushed!

“Don’t touch him!” Chu Yang stopped the soldiers from rushing in. He softly sighed, “He is dead!”

Yes, this lifetime King level leader, who once traversed all over the Middle Three Heavens and was an ultimate master striking terror in the Lower Three Heavens, was no longer breathing. His eyes were still wide open, and his body was still standing straight!

      1. also reminds you, enemies are human as well. In ALOT of these culviation novels, you never feel that your enemies are really human. Its also why i like ISSTH, people feel real in that novel, even the enemies they have their motives, reasons for doing things and people they want to protect.

        1. In ISSTH people seem real??? When? Most of them are usually just as arrogant as in other novels, it’s just when the MC gets so strong they can’t help but acknowledge him that they change their attitude towards him.

          In this novel, they actually make the characters less 2-d and don’t just make them boring and without too much complexity. It isn’t exactly good guy vs bad guy, but enemy vs enemy.

          1. In ISSTH the enemies are usually pretty realistic. If you haven’t realized, that’s a kill or kill world. You can consider it similar to the world in PMG, it’s just that the mc is a very stubborn person who believes in himself. Almost everyone in that world is just looking out for themselves. There are some somewhat contrived enemies (like recently the moguls who were exchanging Demon Hearts) but they’re never really unrealistic. It’s just that we don’t see enough of them to really understand them.

            As for arrogance, tell me then, if you were raised by a noble in the medieval era, and then some commoner disrespects you, would you not have them hanged? That’s basically the real world equivalent. Higher power in that series means more enlightenment which generally comes with confidence and arrogance.

            1. No, I do know that that kind of arrogance is normal…

              But in general, the majority of characters in ISSTH aren’t overly complex.

              And yes, I understand it is a kill-kill world and some arrogance is expected.

              But it is the same thing done in most Xianxia.

              And the thing is, it is a bit over-done.

              I mean, there are a few more complex characters that aren’t just plain douches with only superiority complexes, but the majority are either just nice or douche-y without too much complexity.

              Now, part of that is just cause there are too many characters as well as the fact that the story focuses on Meng Hao a lot.

              But Wang Tengfei, Han Bei, that girl whose body was possesed and Meng Hao seem to be the only characters with actual complexity and realistic.

              The others are just like other Xianxia characters, kind to those they are close to or those they respect and condescending to the rest (or the stereotypical lustful fatty, or the overly moral brother, or the love interest that acts cold but is actually just sweet).

              Most of the characters are cookie cutter of what is in other Xianxia (and many of the plots too).

              What makes ISSTH so amazing is that Er Gen makes the stuff we’ve actually seen before seem so fresh and enjoyable. It is a lot of the same things as other stories, but it doesn’t feel the same.

              And that is what makes it gold. He’s just that great of a writer (I mean, he was able to make a written test seem interesting)

              1. WTH! The same as other stories? Do you actually read ISSTH? Er Gen goes sufficiently into detail about a variety of characters. Er Gen does examine the characters of others, and not all of them are douche bags. Remember how he described Song Jia and allowed us to see her side of the story, when the MC was at the Song Clan, or do you remember Han Bei of the Black Sieve Sect? Yeah, she is a b****, but we learned how she became that way. Furthermore, Er Gen sheds light that she is not completely evil. Don’t get me wrong, Er Gen will not delve into the character of every single new character, nor will he delve too deeply. Of course he is going to focus mostly on the MC, but that is obvious. If he focused to much on other characters, then the story would feel way too unfocused.

              2. 1st, I did say Han Bei was shown and I admitted that it isn’t possible to develop every character.

                Also, if you actually notice, most tropes used in Chinese web novels are actually all found in the series.

                From level breaking fighting to great luck, to defeating those who are arrogant, to reaching a level of impressing the whole world, to eventually offending the great powers, to repeating plot points, etc…

                Er Gen just happens to be an amazing author who could make the troupes commonly seen seem fresh and interesting.

    1. They are four King level masters at Diwu Qin Rou’s side but 2 of them need to stay in the Golden Horse Department at all time to protect it, one is dead ( manly tears ) and the last one just escaped with an unknown situation, so yeah shit still going on

    1. Ji mo weakened it, tremendously, hes probably made armor out of those essences metal essences out of those metals hes absorbed, he is still a cultivator and he probably made the attack hit the opposite side of where his heart is.

      1. Plus the guy being at the very end of his power. He sacrificed his soul, and it seems like even that had run out by by that point. The guy probably had at most 10% or so of his normal power, in addition to what you said.

  23. You know, I really kinda want to see another series that is the prequel to this and has all the events before they were changed, so I can see the “bad guys” get happy endings, because the author does such a great job of showing that evil is subjective in war.

    I was somehow reminded of the deaths in Night Raid(?) In Akame ga Kill.. The feels is strong man..

  33. my impression, is that this is very generic, a person with 30% of his powers can suddenly go “super saiyan”. it did say that even an emperor level can’t face 20 thousand men(solders) due to becoming tired, but they could slaughterer there way through, even one escaping, and i through i heard that these solders were the best of the best. overall, lots of plot holes, extra table when he destroyed one etc.

  34. Er Gen is a trash author with a fetish for counting numbers. He’s a hypocrite who forgets what he establishes in previous chapters. Biggest mistake of my life was reading ISSTH all the way through. What a trash fucking novel.
