Mo Tian Yun took a deep breath and did not say anything.

Mo Xing Chen stood for there for a while, then he looked at Mo Tian Yun with a conflicting gaze and said, “In a few days, I will send Tian Ji to Cang Lan battlefront. As for you, continue to go and gain more experience in Lower Three Heavens. Use all of your efforts to find the whereabouts of Nine Tribulations Sword’s master. You two will go separate ways. Understood?”

“I understand.” Mo Tian Yun nodded.

“As long as you understand.” Mo Xing Chen turned and walked away with saber in hand.

Mo Tian Yun respectfully bowed, and watched as his father departed. He was now the only one left in the great hall. At this time, he slowly looked up and revealed a soft smile. He muttered, “Father, what I understand is… my position is a dangerous one. The one to make their move first remains powerful. The one to make their move last… is finished…”

“Cang Lan battlefront might be far, but… it’s still in this world.” Mo Tian Yun smiled and shook his head, “Blood relations. Haha… In this world, who is not blood relations? Isn’t everyone children of this world? In that case, isn’t there fratricide in the world every day?”

“Fratricide [TLN: Original words mean murdering one’s limbs]… If it is your own limbs, then it is considered fratricide. But in reality, with your own limbs, how could it be murder?” Mo Tian Yun laughed softly, “It is only murder when it is not your own limbs…”

He smiled brightly, clasped his hands behind his back and waltzed out. Before stepping out the door, he turned around, looked at the chair his father was sitting on… and faintly smiled.

All of Mo Qing Wu’s privileges were taken away; she was only left with the privilege to remain in the inner court. In the inner court, she could remain by her mother’s side.

This was the only privilege that was given for the exchange of Dreaming of a Gentle Dance Saber.

After learning of this, Mo Tian Ji looked up at the heavens and laughed mournfully and bitterly!

At this time, he suddenly remembered.

In Lower Three Heavens, the night before they parted with Chu Yang…

“Don’t force me to declare war against your Mo clan!” Chu Yang said lightly, “If I find out that Xiao Wu suffered any grievances, I will make your Mo clan pay!”

(walkthejianghu.com)

“Brother Mo is too polite! This saber is, in part, my sincerity; but it also has a deeper meaning. Not anyone is worthy of such a gift from me…” Chu Yang replied frankly, “As long as Brother Mo understands that, I am happy.”

Remembering these words from Chu Yang, Mo Tian Ji smiled sadly.

He had a feeling that in taking Dreaming of a Gentle Dance Saber and treating Mo Qing Wu this way, the Mo clan was inviting great trouble!

Thinking of Chu Yang’s words, he was oddly concerned. Mo Tian Ji could feel some faint danger still lurking in the darkness slowly creeping toward the Mo clan…

Thinking of Chu Yang’s martial brothers, Gu Du Xing, Luo Ke Di, Ji Mo, Dong Wu Shang… Mo Tian Ji sighed. During the conference, he did not mention the names of these people. Even if he told them, the Mo Tian Yun would just laugh and ridicule.

These people were only second young masters! They were not valued successors!

But Mo Tian Ji could immediately see the potentials of these people! If Chu Yang could unify them, they would definitely become a terrifying force!

However, this force needed time to grow.

If Mo Tian Yun knew about them, he would use tactics to divide and conquer these people!

Therefore, Mo Tian Ji did not speak of them. He must give them time. Because what Chu Yang’s group was aiming for was also something he should do!

In the past few days, Mistress Mo did not part from her daughter. While her daughter’s heavenly gift was destroyed, the child was still a treasure in her heart. With the clan’s decision, Mistress Mo was unable to fight back. Plus, the Mo clan had always been cruel like that. Everyone had grown used to this. But this also could not affect the love Mistress Mo had for her daughter.

She was only worried how her young daughter could cope with such a big blow.

But she discovered that her daughter had changed.

The lively and lovable Xiao Wu who liked to talk and laugh and disappeared. In her place was a quiet little lady of few words…

All day long she would hold that tattered scabbard and remained silent.

While her age was still young, a quiet sorrow grew more and more on her face.

Furthermore, there were times when she would unexpectedly stare into the distance with a pensive gaze. But after each time, her state of mind became a little more sorrowful.

Mo Qing Wu was currently still young; she was, of course, not capable of being lovesick. In fact, the majority of her thoughts did not have anything to do with Chu Yang.

But it was because of this pensiveness that her heart became closed.

“Why is it like this? A Hua might be a servant, but I have always called her Sister A Hua. When her mother got sick, it was me who stole medicine from the clan and gave it to her. That day, she said that she would treat me well for the rest of her life. But after what happened, A Hua does not pay any attention to me. I even heard her telling Xiao Yue that I am a disabled person…”

“Why? Every time father came back, he always gave me a hug. But after that day, it’s no longer like that anymore. Plus, he immediately turned away each time he sees me. If he did not turn away then there would be a scowl on his face. Did I make father hate me?”

“The other day, I went to the clan’s herbal storage to get some medicine, but they did not give it to me. I still remember whenever I wanted anything before, they would give it to me. Why? Is it because I turned into a disabled person?”

“That day, in the great hall… second brother did not even dare to look at me…”

“The saber Brother Chu yang gave me… hoo hoo…”

Mo Qing Wu had thought like that. At such a young age, her heart had unexpectedly become so burdened… As for her body, it had grown more haggard by each day that passed…

It pained Mistress Mo to see her daughter so.

Then one day, Mo Tian Ji received notice from the clan that he would have to go to Cang Lan battlefront. Before leaving, he went to say goodbye to his little sister.

At that time, he saw for himself how Mo Qing Wu sat at the door with her chin resting on her arm as she stared blankly into the distance without any spirit.

With a pained heart, Mo Tian Ji gently walked in front of his little sister and sat down.

“Xiao Wu, your second brother is here.”

“Uh…”

“Xiao Wu… what’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“Xiao Wu, I have to go to Cang Lan battlefront.”

“Uh…”

“Before I leave, I am a little worried about you. What do you want? Second brother will bring it back for you.”

“Uh…”

“Xiao Wu!” Mo Tian Ji agonizingly held Mo Qing Wu’s frail shoulder and shook it gently, “Say something.” He was suddenly shocked, “How are you so frail?”

A sign of life finally appeared in Mo Qing Wu’s empty gaze, “Second brother.”

“Uh, I am here!”

“Second brother… did I turn into a disabled person?”

“Gibberish!” Mo Tian Ji became angry, “Who told you that?”

“They all say that. Is it true?”

Mo Tian Ji silently hugged his little sister, “Little sister, you will definitely be fine! You will not become a disabled person!”

“None of you need me!” Mo Qing Wu sobbed.

Mo Tian Ji was stunned.

“I have nothing left. Uncle Cheng Yu left, and you are also leaving.”

“…”

“Second brother, can I still get my saber back?” Speaking of the saber, a look of longing flashed in Mo Qing Wu’s eyes.

“…”

“Second brother, why did you not get my saber back that day?” Mo Qing Wu looked up. She was young, her eyes were supposed to be naïve and lively; but there was now an unexpected trace of caution…

Mo Tian Ji was at a loss for words. What could he say? How could he explain?

“You took my saber out, and it was immediately taken away.” Mo Qing Wu’s voice was so soft, it was almost faint.

Mo Tian Ji sighed deeply.

At did moment, he knew what he did wrong.

If he did not take out the saber, Mo Qing Wu’s situation would definitely not be any better than it is now. With that saber, she would at least get a more peaceful environment. In the worst case scenario, this was still the inner court. With the strict rules here, the servants dared not say anything. Mo Qing Wu would also be very safe. Plus, she also had her mother by her side.

With her mother’s care, Mo Qing Wu would not be mistreated.

This was the greatest gain.

But Mo Tian Ji had overlooked one thing. After all of her privileges were taken away, in Mo Qing Wu’s mind, there was only one person she could trust; that was Chu Yang.

Because it was that Mo clan who decided her fate. They had placed her into a helpless and pitiful state.

But it was Chu Yang had once saved her life from the brink of death. Plus, he played with her and gave her that saber…

When she was dealt this major blow, in this little girl’s heart, the time she lived with Chu Yang seemed even more cheerful.

Comparing between the two, Chu Yang was, of course, the better one.

Given such a big blow, Mo Qing Wu valued those memories and that saber. It was also that saber alone that could give her warmth.

But Mo Tian Ji had used it in exchange for this living condition.

The moment that saber was taken away, it was as if the last refuge of her little mind was taken away from Mo Qing Wu! This caused her to be both physically and psychologically injured; something she could not handle.

This was Mo Tian Ji’s biggest mistake!

Because Mo Qing Wu was still very young, she still did not understand the value of the exchange. Such an exchange, to her, had no meaning. Because she had been living here and was still living here…

She could only feel that she had lost her most beloved saber!

And that saber was lost because of Mo Tian Ji.

Perhaps she would understand Mo Tian Ji’s pain someday, but right now, she definitely did not…

Mo Tian Ji stood there in shock. At this moment, even with his heavenly intelligence, he was helpless…

He could only grit his teeth and say, “Xiao Wu, rest assured! One day, second brother will take back that saber for you! And hand it to you myself!”

“You will?” Mo Qing Wu looked up; her eyes shined as she looked at Mo Tian Ji. After a while, those eyes grew dim again, and she said sadly, “Second brother, I am tired.”

Then she dropped her head and did not pay any mind to her second brother anymore. She dreamily looked at her feet with an unfocused gaze and murmured, “I miss… really miss… Brother Chu Yang…”

When Mo Tian Ji left the little court, even he did not know how to describe his feelings.

He only knew that he wanted to kill someone!

And the most ideal target was none other than Mo Tian Yun!

  1. You know… I understand the clan not giving her resources and stuff….

But if her mom is in the inner court, why not just let the girl live with her? Why treat the child badly? Sure, you’d give her no more special treatment… but no need to be mean to her either.

    1. Probably because being in the inner court has lots of prestige…and even though she isn’t gaining any benefit except company that will still build resentment in lots of people who are outer court or inner court who feel that a waste of resources shouldn’t have such a prestigious position…

I’m more struck by the thought that if the saber hadn’t come into play, Qing Wu would probably not be able to see her mother anymore…and if on top of that she got shunted to the outer court…she would have no allies, because the clan keeps sending away the people that care about her. I also have no idea if the clan would provide food, shelter, or protection to outer court disciples who don’t have much of a chance of breaking through…and she’s too young to realize that none of this is her fault, but she’ll blame herself anyways.

…I’m going to take some solace in the fact that the clan has now made an enemy of the master of the Nine Tribulations Sword, even as they are desperately trying to find the guy to befriend him. And what currently cheers me up is imagining Tian Yun trying to bribe Chu Yang to join the Mo clan with that saber…and imagining Tian Yun’s expression when he learns that Chu Yang made that sword…purely to protect Qing Wu…who he set up. The catharsis will be wonderful.

      1. Even then, she’s still a little girl just living with her mother.

That’s something basic any person with common sense would have.

Even in wuxia. She shouldn’t get resources, but while she’s young, she should be allowed to live with her mother.

She should still get decent care.

        1. Well sure, the only problem is that these big clans are more like bandits. Situations like this are why cultivators in these types of stories don’t tell anyone about their lucky chances or treasures, not even their elders with the exception of parents usually. It is just that in the case of the Mo clan the father is particularly worthless.

          1. No, I get why they took the sword.

If she had talent or anything, they’d let her keep it.

But without talent, it’d be a waste. And as the head, the father must more so be strict.

I just don’t get the fact that she wasn’t able to live with her mom seems like too much. Even without talent.

And as a father, he could still take care of her.

Taking the resource and even the sword I get.

And her loss of status also makes sense…

        Oh. God. YES.
Please let this happen. Please let this happen. Please let this happen. Please let this happen. Please let this happen. Please let this happen. Please let this happen. Please let this happen.
In all the stories I read right now, this has just jumped straight to #1 on the “Top ten list of things Amplify hopes happens as soon as possible.”

  3. The Mo Clan is so irrationnal I can’t believe they lasted more than 10 years. What possible good is there to stay in a communauty that will covet anything good you personnaly get / treat you like shit immediatly after you lose part of your potential / not even let you take care of your own fucking children?
I mean, everyone should worry about these points on a personnal basis, so why is it like this?

Moreover, technical question : Mo Qing Wu had 3 yin meridians. Is it a particular attribute of the meridians that everyone has, or an additional part of the body (litteraly as if someone had an extra arm) ? I thought that it was the second one, but calling her a cripple now that the yin meridians are gone would be strange (she would be back to a “normal” potential now, nowhere near to a cripple). Has the author further explained this ? I can’t remember.
(I hope my questions are clear, I’m not a native english speaker)

    1. I think in addition to them being gone, something was done to her cultivation potential, as the clan mentioned in their discussion that she would never be able to move past the Reverend stage no matter how many resources or effort was spent.

As for being irrational…I honestly don’t know…the goal of staying in a community like that is protection and benefits for people who do have talent…which minimizes the chances of you getting murdered while still trying to cultivate by some random practitioner, and in return if you come across something awesome or become someone awesome you need to contribute to the clan, so that it can continue to provide protection/give benefits. They didn’t need to treat her that badly. There’s practicality and then there’s just being an ass. But I think that the cruelty is due to Mo Tian Yun’s influence because he wants to destroy everything his brother cares about/holds dear.

    2. Think of it like one of your spiritual lungs

You have both of them working normally to circulate the spirit energy in your body.

Now if you suffer an accident and you’ll need to remove one of the lungs, only one will remain to do the job of 2, thus reducing all the spiritual energy that should have normally circulate in your body. Since you needed both lungs to be a normal cultivator and you suddenly lost one of them your future as a normal cultivator is done. and you’ll forever be stuck at some level because that lung makes the difference in the future.

      Got what i mean?

    3. about the three yin meridian. From what i understand about it, is that it’s a special rare trait in the Mo Clan. Basically, what happens is that three meridians would intersect one another and would form a much stronger basis, compared to a normal person. However, there is a draw back. Should the point where the three meridians intersect gets destroyed, then the meridians would lose their connectivity and would make cultivation near impossible to do. I guess the best way to think about it is having three pieces of copper wire that have electric currents running through them. Somewhere down the line, the three copper wires would intersect one another and would form a stronger current than when the wires were separated. Now, if someone were to destroy this intersection, the wires would still be able to do there job, however, because they lost that really strong current, the system wouldn’t be able to perform as well as before.

What’s happening to Qing Wu is basically the same thing

    4. Iirc. Having the 3 yin meridians makes it so she can achieve very good cultivation and if her 3 yin meridians is broken, it means her cultivation will not be able to even compare to a normal person’s cultivation due to having some bodily problems when she tries to further cultivation.

  5. Why he didn’t said that if the savior can give a such saber, he could maybe heal her and she won’t being a disabled person so it’s better to not offend her for now and wait 1 year to see if he can really heal her. Another way is to said if he said he can when everyone else can’t, that’s meant maybe he is related to the nine tribulation guy (after all even the lower realm know about the pill)

    Like

    1. i think the reason why is because the story was that the savior didn’t make the saber, he simply gifted it to her. Also, because he’s from the Lower Heavens, the Mo clan would never believe that he could heal her, when the so-called “Saintly Doctor” couldn’t. Not only that, Tian Ji wasn’t really sure he could do it, either, at first. Do you really think that the rest of the Mo clan, with their pathetic pride, would be able to accept it based on his words alone? No.

The only way for them to believe it, would be when he actually does it in front of them. However, again, because of their pathetic pride, even if he does show up with the cure, there’s no way to know that they would actually allow him to do it, anyways, especially Tian Yun. That guy would do whatever it took to make sure that his little sister stays disabled for the rest of her life, if he can. Because, to him, her having that three meridian is simply a direct challenge to being the heir to the clan.

Haaaah… hurry up Chu Yang. Hurry up to reach the strength where you can destroy the Mo Clan. Hurry up till the moment that you make them realize that the one they wished to court became their enemy due to their foolishness. Hurry up Chu Yang.

Grow powerful enough that you can proudly display your identity as master of Nine Tribulations sword and a member of the Upper Heavens, so that the Mo clan can only regret until death what they have done to Qing Wu. Don’t destroy them so quickly. Make it slow. Make them watch as their resources are drained away. Cripple Tian Yun and that heartless father. Cripple those bastard elders. And make them watch as everything they ever loved is stripped away.

Hurry, Chu Yang. I don’t want to see this last much longer. It’s painful.

  8. I’m super mad about this development, I’m super excited about TTNH, but I’m hell mad about how slow this fucking novel is!!!!!!!!!! How long will it take for Chu Yang to become strong enough to antagonize the Mo clan at the current pace? 1000 chapters? Fuck that! Even with the current translating speed, that will take years! I’m done!!!!

  9. Sigh, poor Tian Ji, in words his old man is sending him to gain experiences in a battlefield, but in reality, is likely to get rid of him so the successor, Tian Yun, will stabilize. While Tian Yun is send to Lower to search the 9 Fragments, hehe, good chance for dirtbag to meet with Chu Yang!
Let’s pray for Chu Yang to make this jerkwad a REAL cripple, killing him outright is no fun.

    1. i can agree with that. Slowly torturing your prey as he begs for his life is always a good pass time. Especially when the victim is the one who victimized the person you care for the most. That way, they’d slowly understand that you should’ve never done something so stupid, without understanding the consequences of your actions. I’d say slowly amputating the guy would be a good way to torture him. That way, when Chu Yang is done with him, all he’d be is a set of four useless limbs and nothing more

      1. Stop torturing, just kill him in one slash.
The longer he breathe on this earth the more polluted the air and oxygen wasted.
The longer you see him the more your time wasted.
Giving him one more second to live in this world is too nice.

        Like

        1. No, giving him a quick death is being too nice. If you truly hate your enemy, you want him to beg for death as you slowly torture him because, to him, that would be his only salvation. The longer you prolong his life under the influence of torture, the more satisfaction you’ll get once you finally decide to kill him

  11. Why is it the author felt the need to force this “tragic” event into the story line with actions that make no sense and so far only serve to worsen the story. And even with all his embelishments for all the protagonistic characters they end up acting like door knobs in the face of all antagonists whom seem to be ominscent at all turns and even have a spurt of power that makes them invincible (gold rider fight with the king levels earlier both at less than 50% total power but still capable to kill 4000 soldiers anf martial warrior + and 15000 archers and several thousand spearmen just to force personal encounters between chu yang and the king levels. ) and then theres the nine heavens sword whi apparantly can move and do things om its own without the knowledge of chu yang the master of the sword and the sword spirit & conciousness, which also seems to only have any sort of knowledge or perseption when the author wants to “enlighten” chu yang on things but never in any real situation chu yang faces, a real heavenly item it is. Also chu yangs intelligence is limited to previous experiences so basically he cant do any deduction that is right infront of him but he cane make plan within plans seemingly.

    What the actual fuck author-san.

Even the lightest punishment would be to beat them to their deaths, they don’t take you seriously, so why should you do so? In most novels after some time passes, mc comes as an op dude, gets the saber back, scares them and sets up some prestige, thus she gets back her status once he heals her and then it’s done.. wtf this concept would need to be thrown into the trash. Come, take it back, and deal a fatal blow, either kill, cripple, or plunder, or all of it plus add more details.. don’t do anything because they’re her family/clan? NO screw this, that’s exactly why you should do it..
